Nieuport 28 displayed in Museum of Flight - Seattle with Markings of Lt. Quentin Roosevelt of the 95th Aero Squadron

On display at the Museum of Flight. Nieuport had reached the design limit of the Nieuport 17, doing away with the V-strut sesquiplane design for the Type 28 which had wings of almost equal proportion braced by parallel struts. It was powered by a Gnome 9N rotary engine. Around 300 Nieuport 28s were built, mainly used by the U.S. Army Air Service due to their availability. This aircraft is displayed in the markings of Lt. Quentin Roosevelt of the 95th Aero Squadron with its “Kicking Mule” emblem on the fuselage. Pres. Roosevelt’s son was killed on 14 Jul 1918 in aerial combat over France.
